Spreading The Cost!
August is nearly over.
This means two things.
1) My Mother will call me any day now to confirm our presence for Christmas Day Lunch and;
2) I need to start Christmas shopping!
I love Christmas aside from one thing. The expense.
There is no way I could wait til my December pay day (which is before Christmas, by the way!) and do all of my shopping then.
If I did, I wouldn’t be able to afford the rent and would be homeless come New Year.
So I have perfected the art of Spreading The Cost.
I start my shopping early and buy a bit every month until Christmas. Of course, I write a list first (I do love a list!) and cross gifts off as I purchase them and the recipients off once I’ve completed their shopping.
This year I’ve been quite lucky. I’ve won quite a lot of prizes that will make wonderful Christmas gifts or vouchers that will buy wonderful Christmas gifts.
This should mean that I don’t have as much to buy. Unfortunately, I fear the same will happen this year as in previous years and I will buy just as much as if I’d won nothing and everyone will receive double the amount of presents!
My Nephews told their Nana that they like Auntie Melvis as she brought them a sack of presents.
I’m practically like Santa!
Anyway, I digress.
Where was I? Ah, yes – spreading the cost!
I’ve began the browsing which is a must before the purchasing.
Now, every year I like to buy the children in my family a toy plus a book. I love books, so it seems only right.
If the toy happens to be related to a book, all the better!
So tonight upon browsing the internet, I have discovered what can only be described as genius.
Let me introduce to you, The Enormous Crocodile!
How amazing is that?! He’s 50cm long, which for a toy is pretty Enormous!
You can also buy The Enormous Crocodile Hand Puppet! He’s not quite as Enormous but would make a great accessory when reading the story to kids!
This has shot right to the Top of the Christmas shopping list for at least two of the children in our family. Of course, you can’t just give a small child The Enormous Crocodile and expect him or her to know what it’s relevance is.
I will therefore be combining him with The Enormous Crocodile book, he’ll make a perfect reading buddy!
And what about this fantastic The Enormous Crocodile T Shirt?!
The possibilities are endless!
I love being able to combine fun with reading for my niece and nephews and for all the other children I buy for at Christmas. These gifts are the perfect way to do that.
Now, I’m looking forward to all the big boxes arriving over the next few months and Mr Melvis saying “Spreading the cost again, are we?!” each time!
Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? There’ll be many more seasonal posts from me as the months progress, hopefully featuring a lot of bargains to help you along. Christmas really is my most wonderful time of the year!
