Can You Guess Where My Dream Room is?
House of Fraser have challenged us bloggers to pull together a key outfit, beauty look or room inspired by by one of the iconic fashion capitals, namely:
- New York
I’ve decided to design my ideal room inspired by one of my favourite cities, but can you guess which city that is?
I’ve often imagined myself in this room. Large windows opening onto a beautiful view, a light breeze disturbing the curtains and making it’s way around a large and spacious living, relaxing and working area. I sit comfortably, writing my seventh novel whilst Mr Melvis relaxes on the sofa. Light and airy with a dash of colour and fabulous accessories … one day it will be mine!
First, the furniture …
I am absolutely besotted with the Waltz Chair, I can imagine sitting here writing and reading and feeling truly at home and for Mr Melvis, a full size Delphine sofa – dark in colour as he gets marks on everything! Of course, with my ridiculous collection of books, this gorgeous Shabby Chic Bookcase would be extremely useful. It’s so pretty and would look wonderful alongside the Shabby Chic Willow Lounge Desk, which is of course ideal for novel writing and this cute Woodland Table. Finally, the beautiful and extremely useful Canyon coffee table would really make this house a home.
Now, to accessorise …
These Maiori curtains* are just what I have in mind, light and airy but with a splash of colour. I love the retro look of the Clock Cushion and Camera Cushion and the contrasting shape and modern design of the Bicycle Cushion alongside them. The Black Orchid Magazine Rack is wonderfully pretty and will be put to good use, the Pied A Terre Teal Swirl Vase will of course be needed weekly with all those flowers Mr M brings me (!) and this Jo Malone candle will make feel right at home.
Oh, what’s this? … a Coccinelle Betty red tote bag? How did that get in there?!
Well, I am going to need a fabulous handbag to carry around this new city of mine and it will really bring out those curtains when I get home and pop it down on the coffee table
*Since I started writing this post, the Maiori curtains are no longer available on the House of Fraser website.
